Lars Christian Langø, Project Manager at Sortland Entreprenør, shares his positive experience of using Interaxo in his project.
About the project
Sortland Entreprenør's contract with Holmøy Maritime concerns the construction of a turnkey new salmon slaughterhouse on Liland outside Sortland. The project will be the largest in the history of both Sortland Entreprenør and the Kronstein Group, with a total value of almost NOK 500 million. Snøhetta is the architect for the innovative salmon slaughterhouse. The slaughterhouse will provide 60-80 jobs in Sortland. Sortland Entreprenør had to compete with nationwide contractors for for this project, and are proud to have been chosen thanks to good planning, progress, structure and transparency.
Lars Christian says that Interaxo has been a good support system in both planning and execution. They are beginning to gain good expertise as users and they consider it very helpful.
When Sortland Entreprenør standardised on using Interaxo, it enables good methods that streamline different parts of the project. This is to ensure that the correct drawings are published in the project, capture changes, but also to ensure good decisions among the many clarifications that need to be made.
Work smart between meetings
One of the major benefits of Interaxo is action lists that enable a more efficient and dynamic design process. The fact that the issues are available at all times, together with the ability to comment directly on the issues, ensures faster processing times. "The action lists act as a record for us, with everyone writing a little bit each. Some cases we only need to follow from the sidelines, or we can get involved when needed, in addition to making the decision on whether to close the case or not. The action list has replaced the need for traditional meeting minutes".
"Communication and traceability in Interaxo save us a lot of time. At least on old cases when it's been half a year and you have 30 minutes meetings in addition to emails and you have to try to recall what you wrote about that case. Now we can just bring up the action list and enter a keyword and you get all the information about e.g. that culvert. It's much more beneficial than spending a lot of time searching through old documents and emails", says Lars Christian.
Drawing management is also used, where they can check every single revision to see what impact it has on the project and whether it could lead to changes that need to be submitted to the subcontractor and possibly the client. "We get control of everything that changes. If there is anything that deviates from the requirements specification, we catch it", says Lars Christian. Models and information about collision checks are also stored in Interaxo, to keep everything in one place.
"We value traceability in Interaxo. It's a great advantage that the documentation is available to all parties involved, and that you have the opportunity to check all information about the project in one place, ,says Lars Christian.
Great advantage that the documentation is available to everyone involved
Lars Christian also believes that it's very important for them to receive all the change notifications in Interaxo, as they get a check on subcontractors and builders this way. Instead of following up in an Excel document, which is much more difficult to work with, they do it in Interaxo, which makes everyday life easier and more structured. Each and every one of the contracting parties has access to a separate change folder that provides an overview of the status, communication and all other information about the changes. Lars goes on to say that they now contractually stipulate that all change notifications must be sent via Interaxo. If they later receive one by email, it is sent back with a request to enter it into Interaxo. "This provides an overview and control, and the contracted subcontractors also see the benefit of this".
"This way we don't have to doubt whether something has been done or not, and it's difficult for anyone to say that they haven't received the information", says Lars Christian.
"We want as much as possible to go into Interaxo. We gather everything in one place, which contributes to fewer emails and less chaos. With the help of Interaxo, we get a more efficient use of time and traceability of all communication in the project", concludes Lars Christian.
