6 tips for efficient teleworking

Written by Hanna Fredholm

Many companies are currently experiencing a new everyday normal with the project teams spread out more than usual. This reinforces the need for a common solution that ensures access to up-to-date information. We have compiled our best tips on ensuring the quality of your projects when teleworking:

  1. Have a good overview. By using a tool that gives you a good overview of current issues and cases, you prevent important cases from being handled in your email. This will help you stay in control throughout the project.
  2. Maintain your way of working. One example is ‘Visual Boards’ in Interaxo, which supports your current methodology during project meetings. In ‘Visual Boards’ you can solve questions and make decisions available to the whole project team. This allows the project to keep up the pace, with the same quality as usual.

“Visual Boards is a favourite in Interaxo. It’s really useful to have a visual tool that allows for efficient and inclusive meetings even when you can’t meet physically.”

    - Henrik Antonsson, Product Owner Interaxo, Tribia

  3. Build trust. Teleworking can create a feeling of insecurity. Transparency and encouragement are important factors to counteract this. Use your camera for video meetings, be well prepared for them and help your colleagues if they need support in their coming work.

  4. Maintain a good dialogue with the construction site. When we telework, communication between the construction site and project team is more important than ever. uniZite can help you keep track of your project status directly from your phone.

“With uniZite’s new start-up centre, each project can easily take direct control of the current status. As a user, you can also set up your own home screen with analysis graphs based on all the projects you have access to, which can result in really interesting insights.”
    - Johan Nordh, Product Manager, uniZite, Tribia

  5. Minimise the risk of uncertainty. Manage all the information in the project in one and the same solution. This ensures that the information is always available, relevant and correct. Collect all your BIM data in BIMEYE to minimise the risk of uncertainty in the project.

BIMEYE opens up new possibilities for coordinating information of extreme importance in projects. It’s fun to work with tools that improve the work processes in an industry that has a big impact on society.”
    - Georgios Drivas, Team Leader BIMEYE, Tribia

  7. Create structure and scheduling that works. These days, it’s good to remind yourself that you are still a team and work together – even if you’re not able to be in the same room. Start and end your working day at the same times of the day and alert your colleagues when you start work and when you turn off your computer for the evening. And resist all the temptations of the home such as housework and entertaining TV series.

Encourage your team to take fresh air every day. It’s been proven that physical activity helps stimulate creativity and productivity. Why not go for a cycle ride during your lunch break or a yoga session at home before work? Your new energy will keep your spirits up throughout the working day!
